OVERVIEW

Tear troughs, or under eye hollows can give a tired and dull appearance to the eye area. It is the groove or hollow at the junction directly under eye at the top of the cheek.

Juvederm Volbella is injected using a cannula along the tear through to hydrate and fill the hollow. This treatment is only suitable for tear troughs not for under eye bags. It can also help with the appearance of dark circles and shadowing when used along side a recommended eye cream.

+ Will there be a lot of bruising?

There may be a few days of downtime following treatment of the tear troughs where the area under the eyes appears swollen and bruised. It is highly recommended that patients take arnica tablets for a few days before and after treatment. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before and avoid taking fish oils prior to the procedure.

+ Does this work for dark circles?

While this treatment is not specifically for dark circles a lot of patients find that it can improve their appearance. An eye cream called Teoxane R[II] can be purchased as part of your aftercare and is recommended for patients looking to minimise pigmentation.

+ Can anyone have this treatment?

Your suitability will be determined during your consultation, where all aspects of the treatment and desired results will be discussed in depth. This treatment isn’t suitable for patients with eye bags of excess skin, but other procedures are available.

+ Does it hurt?

Discomfort is very minimal as a cannula rather than a needle is used to fill the tear throughs. An anaesthetic cream is applied prior to the procedure and anaesthetic is pre mixed with the Juvederm product.
